将来の戦争でのコマンダーを養成するために、世界中から最も優れた才能を持つ子供たちが選ばれ、幼いときから家族から引き離されて養成学校で戦いと戦略のトレーニングを受けるシステムができていた。
主人公のEnderはその中でも飛びぬけて優秀であったが、それゆえに孤独を味わう。
ネビュラ賞とヒューゴ賞の両賞を受賞した作品。

文章の難解さは★★★と★★★★の中間。文章はさほど難解ではないが、SFなので造語が多く、状況をつかみにくい可能性がある。

SFは宇宙戦争 The War of the Worlds ぐらいは読んだことあるかな　ラジオ版のやつ

The Real Thingは解説と訳みてるからかなり楽だったのはたしかだね

作者は自分のやつ含め３つの先行訳を参考にかいたらしい　いくつか解釈が異なる
行方『ほんもの』、大西・多田『ほんもの』、柴田『本物』
であとがきに「わたしの今回の解説翻訳にこの３種類の訳を参考にできたのは幸運でした。
わたし一人なら犯したかもしれない誤りを排除でき、正確な本を読者に提供できるからで
す・・・とても役立ち、教えられて自分の解釈を改めた箇所もありました。」と書いてる。

このレベルの人でさえ、このレベルの作品で間違いを犯すことがあるわけで、自分が他の作
品を訳したら間違いだらけになるのは間違いないね。

『チャーリーとチョコレート工場の秘密』は、ほんもの（p.40ぐらい）より長いけど（p.150
ぐらい）、これよりずっと平易な英語でかかれてる。とはいえ、疑問点がゼロじゃなかった。
まあ、このレベルでも誤った解釈、誤訳をすると思う。
