前半は今回の焦点。what はto give upの目的語。後半は挿入されたものが
S [S＋V] V と一段複雑な形。

・the limited place which society expects them to fill:
whichは expects them to fill the place の the place が関係詞に変った形。

・to have freedom to choose between ...:
They want to escape from ... , and to have freedom to ... というつながり。

・freedom to choose between a career or home life, or a mixture of the two:
[A or B], or [C] と説明があるが、choose [between A or B], or [C]と適切なガイドがされているので悩まない。

・Women have the right not only to equal pay but also to equal opportunities:
right もto―の修飾を許す特別な名詞(>>103)。 「文法篇」p. 552 のリストからは抜け落ちていますが、
『ルールとパターン』p. 178や『テーマ別』p.259の解説では拾っています。弘法も筆の誤り。

・These women have expressed their opinion forcefully by using ...:
These women はthe women who disagree say: のwomen を指しています。
by using は文法的な説明は特段無いのですが、何か分詞構文のような「力」を感じますよね(個人的感想)。もっともこちらはby＋動名詞ですが。

Home Roomには一か所誤植がありますが、どこだかわかりますか？
結構ややこしい説明中にあるので頭がしっかりしてないと、ますますわかりにくくなります。
p. 393 10行目の「which の節の一部だからread の後だけじゃなくちゃんとthrough のあと…」
の中にあり、read ではなくchosen です。ここが誤植です、read →chosen に訂正してください。
