You will got smoother movement especially on the delta-style 3Dprinter under DVR8825stepper driver and A4988/2 drivers. Lower vbration lower noise smoother result!
There we have, a lonely voltage pulse measuring about 4us. 4us is about 12% of the 33us period of the PWM signal. So that means that we should be getting a voltage of 12% of 12V across the motor phase, which is around 1.4V. My steppers have a resistance of 2ohm aprox. So that would mean a current of 1.4V/2ohm = 700mA... everything seems to match. But then, why is the pulse so wide? So, after a deeper read at the datasheet, I notice the following:
But we found out what is the problem, in mixed decay mode, the driver cannot do any voltage lower than 12% of the supply voltage. So the small currents needed for the microstepping will not be possible. So then, the problem is that it cannot effectively do small steps in the rising part of the sine wave because the minimum voltage it can do is 12% of the supply voltage (1.4V in my case) my motors are rated for 3.1V, so 1.4V is half of the nominal voltage, that is a very big minimum step.
M81 - Power Off
Turn off the high-voltage power supply. If the board is not powered from another source, this may also shut down the electronics.
Usage M81 Notes Requires POWER_SUPPLY and a digital pin connected to the PSU’s enable pin.
Example: a 1.8deg/step (i.e. 200 steps/rev) motor with 4mH inductance run at 1.5A using a 12V supply, and driving a GT2 belt with 20 tooth pulley would start losing torque at about 250mm/sec. This is the belt speed, which on a CoreXY or delta printer is not the same as the head speed. In practice the torque will drop off sooner than this because of the back emf caused by motion, and because the above doesn't allow for the winding resistance. Low inductance motors also have low back emf due to rotation. What this means is that if we want to achieve high speeds, we need low inductance motors and high supply voltage. The maximum recommended supply voltage for the Duet WiFi is 25V.
